(Spring 2024) Ryan Berg on Central & South America
Ryan C. Berg is director of the Americas Program and head of the Future of Venezuela Initiative at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. He is also an adjunct professor at the Catholic University of America and visiting research fellow at the University of Oxford’s Changing Character of War Programme.
The event focused on South & Central America, specifically with how US influence has changed, or might change in the future. The threat of China creeping into our local sphere was brought up, as well as Guyana-Venezuela tensions. It was great to host Ryan on campus for the Spring of 2024. |
(Fall 2023) Vance Serchuk on US Military Industry & Grand Strategy
Vance Serchuk is the Executive Director of the KKR Global Institute, and a member of the Industrials investing team. He went to undergraduate at Princeton, but his brother attended Lehigh University... (:
The event focused on the industrial base of the United States and its partners across the globe, and what that means for national security interests & grand strategy for the future. As someone at the cornerstone of foreign policy & industry, it was great to hear from him. |
(Fall 2023) Ilan Berman on Iran & the Middle East
Ilan Berman is Senior Vice-President at the American Foreign Policy Council in Washington, DC and an expert on the Middle East, Russian Federation, and Central Asia. He has previously consulted with the Central Intelligence Agency and US State Department.
Despite the event being planned before the horrific October 7th attacks, they were a topic of discussion during the event, as well as Iran as a regional threat to US interests & the interests of its allies. Because of further escalations from Iran, the points brought up at the event have (unfortunately) continued to ring true, with regards to the risk that Iran & its proxies bring. |
